Abstract:The plants of hot pepper at seedling, flower bud, blooming and fruiting stages were fumigated twice with 0.12 ppm of O_3 at 17 hrs intervals. The first fumigation was carried out for 7 hrs and the second was made for 24 hrs. It was concluded that the O_3 could inhibit photosynthesis of hot pepper at any development stage. The inhibited degree of photosynthesis differed in different stages, i. e. seedling>blooming>flower bud>fruiting stage. The maximum volume of inhibition was 56.30%. The photosynthesis inhibition resulted in yield decrease 48.86% in comparison to control. This yield loss was comprehensive affects caused not only by photosynthesis, but also by various factors. It was also observed in this experiment that the inhibition of O_3 on photosynthesis of hot pepper did not disappear at seventeenth hours after stopping fumigation, expressing a certain after-action.
