Abstract: | Cells of Taxus cuspidata were suspensively cultured in modifiedB5 medium supplemented with different concentratioin PEG (Polyethylene glycol).Great effects of PEG on cell growth and taxol production were observed by determining fresh weight and dry weight of cells and taxol contents was determined with HPLC at different days of culture.10 g/L PEG is the best concentration for cell growth.The highest biomass was achieved in 16 days culture with 28.73 g/flask of fresh weight and 2.14 g/flask of dry weight,which increasing 3.8 times and 3.1 times respectively.20 g/L PEG is good for accumulation of taxol.Taxol concentration in medium amounted to the highest levels with 2 350 μg/L when the cells were cultured for 25 days,which is 11 times of that of PEG-free |
