ROLE OF CAPTIVE BREEDING IN GIANT PANDA'S CONSERVATION BIOLOGY

The necessity of giant pandas in captive breeding and its role played in conservation biology is elucidated in the paper. Much of evidence showed that increasingly aggravated and fragmental habitats and islanded population of the giant panda became a great barrier in its conservation. In general,preservation for endangered species in their original habitat may be a best measure. However,it has been proved by lots of scientific studies that captive breeding of giant panda is considered as one of the most effective measures for it plays an important role in genetic diversity conservation,and is a prime assurance to decrease the rate of its extinction.
