BIOLOGICAL CHARACTERASTICS OF LOCAL RACE OF PIG INTRODUCED FROM ORIGINAL GUIZHOU PROVINCE

We have introduced the local race of pig "fragrant miniature pig" from Cuizhou Province to Chongqing and achieved the study on their biological characteristic. The results show that the fragrant. miniature pigs have relative short edes and are easy to be tamed. They also have the sexual precocity with a high percentages of fetal death, monster and abortion. On the other hand, the birth rates are low. In addition, their main physical and biochemical indexes as well as anatomic structures are similar to those of other. kinds of pigs with some indexes parallel to those of human being. The number of chromosomes is 38. In conclusion, it would be valuable to develop the fragrant miniature pig into laboratory animals.
