Abstract: | Plants see light through multiple photoreceptors, including phytochromes and cryptochromes. Cryptochromes are flavoproteins that participate in many blue-light responses, including phototropism in plants and entrainment of circadian rhythms in plants and animals. A novel flavoprotein, NPH1, is also implicated in plant phototropism. Phytochromes function as serine/threonine kinases whose potential interacting partners include cryptochrome (CRY1 and CRY2). |
