Study on the Kinds and Ecological Value of Salt-tolerant Native Plants in Yellow River Delta

The kinds and ecological value of salt-tolerant native plants in Yellow River Delta were de- scribed in this article. The salt-tolerant native plants in Yellow River Delta majored in herbs, shrubs and trees just scattered in herbs. The primary species of salt-tolerant native plants were Phragmites australis, Suaeda salsa, Tamarix chinensis, Salix matsudana and so on. These plants played an important role on the ecology. First, they prevented wind, fixed sands, conserved water and soils, and regulated climate. Secondly, they sequestrated carbon and increased the carbon sink, so it compensated the carbon emis- sions. Thirdly, they prevented and controlled pollutions such as heavy metals. Besides, they cleaned the water quality, maintained biodiversitv and improved saline soils.
