| Abstract: | An indirect ELISA was set up for the detection of specific seru m IgG antibodies to respiratory syncytial virus(RSV), parainfluenza virus(PFV), adenovirus ( AdV ) and measles virus. The antigens used in the ELISA were treated with DOC detergent. Four viral IgG antibodies can be detected at the same time in one serum specimen under testing.The kinetics of IgG antibodies was observed in children with the 4 viral lower respiratory tract infections.Of the 50 pairs of acute and convalescent sera from children with acute lower respiratory infections, 16 ( 32% ) were found positive for IgG to RSV, 10 ( 20% ) to PFV,10 ( 20% ) to AdV and 8 (l6%)to measles virus. In addition, combined infections by two or more viruses were also noted. |
