Abstract:The extracts of roots of Raphanus sativus-cultivars ( ie. cv. "Xin limei", cv. "Wei qing" and cv."Xiang ya bai)and Daucus carota var. sativa were found to have antiviral activity in vitro by the authors.Tests of antiviral activity of the extracts were undertaken in primary rabbit kidney cell-VSV system. The extracts of roots from three R. sativus-cultivars, in particular cv. "Xin li mei" and cv."Wei qing", were highly active whereas the extract of root of D.carota var. sativa was relatively lower active.Development of resistance to the virus infection requires an interaction between the extracts tested and the celi and a time period is required fo the development of resistance.We had proved that extract of root of R,sativus cv. "Xiang ya bai" is an interferon inducer. So, it is probable that extracts from roots of other R, sativus-cultivars and D. carota var. sativa should be interferon inducer also.Finally, the practical meanings of the findings were discussed.
