Abstract:Xylitol from the stem of Eupatorium adenophorum Spreng produced by microorganism fermentation of its hydrolytic extract is reported. The yeasts used in the experiment are Schizosaccharomyces octosporus Beijerink, Candida tropicalis (Cast.) Berkh. and Hansenula anomala (Hans.) Sydnow. The result shows that this harmful plant is one of the great potential resources for xylitol production.
