| Abstract: | A method has been developed for rapidly screening representatives of all currently recognized species of the genus Staphylococcus for the presence of plasmid DNA. The isolated plasmid DNA is substantially free from contaminating chromosomal and relaxed plasmid DNA. The method will detect plasmids in strains grown on various types of solid or liquid culture media and is convenient enough for routine epidemiological studies. |
