Abstract:Diabetes mellitus is a chronic lifelong disease, which seriously threatening the human's health. Type 2 diabetes mellitus is becoming a worldwide public health problem and its incidence is increasing year by year. According to the Epidemiology investigation, there are about two hundred million diabetic patients and the Type 2 diabetes accounts for 90 % to 95 %. The pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes is defects in insulin secretion with or without insulin resistance, and the sustained hyperglycemia seriously inhibits the islet function. The tight glycemic control is an effective way of suppression chronic complications of diabetes and prolongation patient life expectancy. However, with the glycemic control improvement, the risk of hypoglycemia increases. Hypoglycemia not only severely hinders the glycemic control, but also causes disability or death with severe hypoglycemia. Therefore, Diabetes treatment is not only blood sugar control but also to reduce the incidence of hypoglycemia. This paper discusses causes of hypoglycemia and the causative factor in the treatment of type 2 diabetes patient as well as workable solutions.
Keywords:Hypoglycemia  Type 2 Diabetes mellitus  Insulin
