| Abstract: | Radial growth pattern of stem is used to reconstruct the history of suppression and releaseperiods in the course of Fagus engleriana growth, and the radial growth rate of 0. 70mm.yr-1 is chosen as a threshold for distinguishing these two periods. About 69 54 of ring coresshow a distinct suppression period. Its frequency is 1. 6, and its mean duration is 22. 6years. The frequency and mean duration of release period are respectively 1. 4 and 11. 6years. Three kinds of radial growth patterns are recognized. |
