Abstract: | CLIP-170 family proteins regulate microtubule plus end dynamics. Two reports published in this issue of Developmental Cell show that Bik1 and tip1p, the CLIP-170-like proteins of budding and fission yeast, are carried to microtubule plus ends by kinesin motor proteins. These findings indicate a complex interplay between microtubule-associated proteins and suggest a novel mechanism by which kinesin proteins stabilize microtubules. |
