Five New Species of Myxobolus (Myxosporea: Protozoa), Parasitic in Cirrhina mrigala (Hamilton) and Labeo rohita (Hamilton), with a Note on a New Host Record for M. curmucae Seenappa & Manohar, 19801

Five new species of the genus Myxobolus (Myxosporea) infecting the fresh-water carps are described. M. bhadrensis n. sp. was noticed in the musculature of the fry of Labeo rohita, collected from Bhadra Fish Seed Farm, in September 1979; and M. shettii, M. vedavatiensis, M. venkateshi, and M. hosadurgensis n. spp. were found in the gills of Cirrhina mrigala sampled from Vanivilasa Sagar Fish Farm in April 1980. Also, a new host record for M. curmucae is reported.
