Abstract:Culture filtrates of Beauveria bassiana at different concentrations were evaluated for nematicidal activity against the northern root knot nematode (Meloidogyne hapla); bioassays included egg hatching, mortality and infectivity on tomato plants in pots under glasshouse conditions. The percentage mortality and inhibition of hatching of root-knot nematode were directly proportional to the concentration of culture filtrates of B. bassiana. Soil drenching with culture filtrate of B. bassiana significantly reduced nematode population densities in soil and in the roots and subsequent gall formation and egg-mass production by M. hapla under glasshouse conditions.
