Abstract: | Summary N-2-Hydroxyethylpiperazine-N′-2-ethane sulfonic acid (HEPES) and N-tris(hydroxymethyl)methyl-2-aminoethane sulfonic acid (TES) have been found to be nontoxic substitutes for bicarbonate buffer in cell culture media. WI-38 embryonic human lung cells have been carried beyond the 60th passage with both HEPES and TES buffers. |
