Abstract: | Karyotypes were analyzed for 25 species from 14 genera of the subtribe Sarcanthinae. The karyotypes of representatives of the following genera were recorded for the first time: Acampe, Chilochista, Gastrochilus, Pelatantheria, Robiquetia, Sarcanthus, and Thrixspermum. Most of the small-flowered genera exhibited relatively symmetrical, primitive karyotypes which were difficult to distinguish. Intrageneric variations were encountered. The significance of karyotype analyses of the Sarcanthinae is briefly discussed. |
