Abstract: | The description of Williamsonia harrisiana sp. nov. is based on a few petrified specimens of 'flowers' and 'fruits' collected from Amarjola, Rajmahal hills, India. The species is characterized by the presence of a large number of irregularly distributed and transversely orientated stomata on the lower side of the bracts; a small dome-shaped receptacle with seminiferous and interseminal scales of which the former are much less in number than the latter; long stalked ovules with micropylar ends protruding out of the surface formed by the tips of sterile scales and a ring of interseminal scales forming a sort of sterile disc all round the base of the receptacle. |
