| Abstract: | The realization that apoptosis is genetically programmed raises the exciting prospect that modulating apoptosis may provide novel approaches for treatment of cardiovascular diseases in which apoptosis has been demonstrated. Low molecular weight inhibitors of caspases and mitogen-activated protein kinases have been evaluated, with promising results in a variety of cardiovascular apoptotic models. |
