Abstract: | The two major species of slow reacting substance (SRS) contain either a glutathionyl or cysteinyl-glycyl side chain. Incubation of these SRS's with undiluted or diluted (usually 1:10 or 1:50) human plasma at 37°C resulted in marked losses of smooth muscle contracting activity due primarily to conversion of their oligopeptide side chains to cysteine. |
