Abstract: | A simple reproducible assay to determine the concentration of 24,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 in blood plasma is described. This technique employs quantitation of the steroid by direct spectrophotometric analysis, rather than competitive protein binding assay after partition and high-pressure liquid chromatographic purification of plasma extracts. The concentration of metabolite observed in normal adult plasma is 2.4 ± 1.1 ng/ml. |
