Abstract: | Two pentacyclic triterpenes isolated from the bark of henna were identified as 3β, 30-dihydroxylup- 20(29)-ene (hennadiol), and (20S)-3β, 30-dihydroxylupane. The assignment of the C-20 configuration in the latter compound was supported by the analysis of Eu(fod)3-induced 1H NMR chemical shifts in the two C-20 epimers synthesized from lupeol. |
