| Abstract: | Autophagy is a metabolic process that maintains the homeostasis of the intracellular environment through the degradation damaged proteins and organelles by lysosomes.Hepatitis B virus(HBV)has the ability to use autophagy to enhance its replication,causing hepatitis,liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).In this review,we will summarize the mechanism of autophagy induction in HBV-infected hepatocytes in terms of HBV-related protein,endoplasmic reticulum stress,signaling pathways,cytokines and microRNAs,discuss how autophagy contributes to the biological manifestations of HBV-associated HCC development,and provide new strategies for the treatment of HBV-associated liver diseases. |
