| Abstract: | In 1984, the 1st Nation wide Workshop on Urban Ecology was held at Shanghai, and the Speciality Commission for Urban Ecology (SCUTE) was established at the Workshop. It marked the beginning of ecological Studies of urban area in China.Within the last 6 years, 4 Workshops and 1 international Symposium(1987, Beijiing) were convened. In 1988, the specical journal "Urban Environment and Urban Ecology" was published in Tian jin.Urban ecological soudies have been carried out in several cities,such as Beijing, Tian jin, Shanghai, Changzhou, Suzhou, Guangzhou, Shihezi etc. System dynamic models were constructed for the first two. |
