Abstract: | elicobacter-like organisms(HLO)were isolated
from 8 out of 10 stomachs of conventional normal pig.The morphology and some bioche-mical
reactions of HLO were similar to that of Helicobacter pylori(HP),while the urease activity of HLO
were lower than that of HP. SDS-PAGE analysis of whole cell proteins of HLO were not identical
with that of HP. In addition to HLO colonzation,Pathological clianges were observed in gastric
mucosa, including antral and cardia regions. Micro-scopically,there were focal to diffuse
chronic inflammatory lesions with mild to moderate infilration of mononuclear cells, plasma
cells and few neutrophiles. With the Warthin-starry stain, Organisms were seen in the mucus
layer and on the surface of the gastric epithelial cells beneth the mucus layer. Our data
indicate that,HLO in pigs, as HP in humans,in an important causal agent in the pathogenesis of
chronic gastritis. |
