Abstract: | LY 127935 (moxalactam), a new 1-oxa cephalosporin, was evaluated in vitro in agar dilution testing against 177 different clinical
isolates of cephalothin-resistant Enterobacteriaceae andPseudomonas aeruginosa in parallel with amikacin, cephalothin, cefoxitin, and cefamandole. Ninety percent of the isolates were also gentamicin-resistant
by disk testing. LY 127935 showed a very high degree of activity against cephalothin-resistant organisms but amikacin was
more active in vitro, particularly againstP. aeruginosa. Cefoxitin and cefamandole were consistently less active than either LY 127935 or amikacin. |
