Abstract:Summary Indium tin oxide electrodes have been used to investigate in vitro effects of steady electric fields on rat bone marrow stromal cells. At voltages <0.8V, no medium decomposition takes place and an electrical double layer is formed at the electrodes. At the anode, the attachment of cells is enhanced but their proliferation is suppressed. Cell proliferation is resumed on removal of the field.
