Progress in the New Drugs of Traditional Chinese Medicine on Liver Protection

As the vital organ of the body, liver plays a major role in metabolism and excretion. With the incidence of liver dis- ease increasing, it has been the well-recognized problem that the way to preventing liver disease effectively has become one of the com- mon challenges for the medical and pharmaceutical professions. The available chemical drugs used on the treatment of liver disease could arouse a varietY of adverse effects or even further damages to liver. Traditional Chinese Medicine has gained more and more importance and popularitY by virtue of their safetY, efficacy and cost effectiveness. Traditional Chinese Medicine has played an essential role of liver protection in history. Nowadays, with the progress of technology, much more and better new Traditional Chinese Medicine has gradually brought up and the related researches increased. This article aims to review and discuss the progress in the new drugs of Traditional Chi- nese Medicine on liver protection.
