The Intracellular Location of Catechol Oxidase: in the Olive Fruit

Abstract:Catechol oxidase in young olive fruits was located on the innerface of chloroplast thylakoids and in the mitochondria. Thiswas demonstrated by observing the oxidation products of 3,4-dihydroxyphenyl-alanine(DOPA) with the electron microscope in fruit segments prefixedwith glutaraldehyde.
