Abstract: | With the imposition of salt stress (0.5 to 3 % NaCl or CaCl2) a decrease in germination rate and accumulation of proline was observed in the root tissue. Both NaCl and CaCl2 solutions induced an increase in the total peroxide content and lipid peroxidation and decrease in catalase, guaiacol peroxidase and superoxide dismutase activities in root tissues suggesting an oxidative stress in the salt sensitive rice cultivar. |
