Abstract:Based on the bottom trawl survey in the central and southern Yellow Sea in 1960, 1985, 1998 and 2008, the decadal changes in population structure and biological parameters of the small yellow croaker Larimichthys polyactis were analyzed, and the gray correlative analysis was used to study the effects of changes in sea water temperature, power of fishing boats and the feeding intensity on the biological parameters. The result showed that a great change had happened in the biological parameters of small yellow croaker during past four decades. The size of individuals from the catch has become smaller and population structure become simple, while the growth speed increased, asymptotic length and the inflexion of weight decreased. The total mortality, natural mortality and fishing mortality were found to have an increasing trend. The gray relationship degrees were 0.7238 (power of fishing boats), 0.6903 (stomach fullness), 0.6396 (temperature) with biological parameters, suggesting that the fishing imposed the strongest impact on decadal changes of the biological parameters.
