Abstract: | Cultures of taro, Colocasia esculenta var antiquorum (L.) Schott, established from shoot tip explants were used to select forsalt tolerance. Presently, cultures are being maintained andproduce plantlets in 1070 per cent artificial seawater. The results indicate that in vitro selection techniques forsalinity tolerance may prove useful in the development of salttolerant taro cultivars.
