Abstract: | Summary Polycation treatment of preformed calcium alginate beads produced a matrix with higher resistance to phosphate ions. The treatment of immobilized Saccharomyces cerevisiae in the calcium alginate beads inhibited respiration of the entrapped cells but did not reduce ethanol production. |
