| Abstract: | A new tracer compound is presented for determining zooplanktongrazing activity. The gut content in zooplankton is measuredas ß-dimethylsulphoniopropionate (DMSP), which canbe measured even in individual copepods. Species-specific DMSP/Chl-aratios allow applications in, for example, prey selectivitystudies. |
