Abstract: | Luxol fast blue MBS (du Pont), which has frequently been used as a stain for phospholipids, stains Mallory's “alcoholic” hyaline a deep purplish blue. The stain is stable and provides histological appearances far superior to other methods. It is used on paraffin sections of tissue fixed in formalin or formalin-sublimate as a 0.1% solution in 90% alcohol at 60°C for 8 hr. Differentiation is made with 0.05% Li2CO3 and a red counterstain applied. |
