Abstract: | The synthesis, structural characterization and magnetic property of two new coordination polymers [Cu(pyz)(μ-CH3CO2)4]n (1) and [Cu(pyz)(μ-CCl3CO2)4]n (2) (pyz = pyrazine) are reported. Here, the carboxylato bridged two dinuclear copper(II) complexes are linked through pyrazine giving a 1-D alternating chain. The magnetic property of the complexes indicates a significant difference originated from the introduction of electron withdrawing substituent on the bridging dicarboxylate. Complex 1 exhibits strong antiferromagnetic interactions with J = −344.61 cm−1, whereas 2 exhibits comparatively less strong antiferromagnetic coupling with J = −238.53 cm−1. |
