| Abstract: | Neuronal excitability can be modulated by release of intracellular calcium but the impact of calcium store depletion on intrinsic neuronal properties is unknown. In this issue of Neuron, Narayanan et?al. describe an intrinsic plasticity that is depletion induced, is regionally restricted, and may protect neurons from pathological alterations in calcium signaling. |
