Abstract: | A scheme is described which can be applied to any numerical microbiological limit where the distribution of microorganism density is approximately log normal. The actual limits used, the degree of safety assurance required, the definition of an unsatisfactory batch and the number of units examined may be chosen to suit any particular requirement. The scheme's versatility and ability to operate with low sample numbers make it ideal for microbiological specifications. It is based on consideration of both safety and quality requirements and good manufacturing practice. |
