Abstract:Summary Ten larvae of a balanomorph barnacle were collected in plankton samples from under the sea-ice of McMurdo Sound in the austral spring 1985. This is the first record of planktonic barnacle larvae in the Antarctic Ocean. By deduction they are identified as Bathylasma corolliforme (Hoek) stage II nauplii and cyprids. They are described, the first of larvae of any species of the Bathylasmatidae. Their occurrence in McMurdo Sound is discussed in view of the apparent absence of adults in the Sound.
