| Abstract: | Intracellular Wolbachia bacteria are obligate, maternally-inherited, endosymbionts found frequently in arthropods and other invertebrates. The wide occurrence of Wolbachia may be partially due to their ability to alter host reproduction via mechanisms including cytoplasmic incompatibility (CI), parthenogenesis, feminization and male killing.
