Abstract: | ![]() Static and dynamic properties of receptive fields of neurons in the lateral suprasylvian area of the cat cerebral cortex were studied. Neurons with different dynamic characteristics may have an identical static organization of their receptive fields; strict correlation is thus not found between these two characteristics of neurons in this area. Most black-sensitive neurons were found to have a receptive field with off-response. Stimulus contrast reversal tests showed that generation of responses to presentation of both black and light stimuli takes place as a result of excitation of the same area of the receptive field and is not due to spatially different on- and off-zones.L.
