Peculiarities of extraspinally recorded field spinal potentials

It is demonstrated that field potentials generated in the lumbosacral spinal cord and usually recorded as a dorsal surface potential spread to the tissues of the back body surface. The component composition of these extraspinally recorded responses somewhat differs from that of the potential recorded from the spinal cord surface. The reasons for such a difference and possible approaches providing higher informative value of non-invasive studies of spinal cord potentials are discussed.
