| Abstract: | The polypeptide composition of the functional porin trimers that produced the permeability channels in the outer membrane of Salmonella typhimurium was examined on two-dimensional slab gels. The results suggested that the majority of porin trimers from strains producing mixed species of porin polypeptides consisted of homologous subunit polypeptides. The present results do not exclude the possibility that a small fraction of porin trimer is constructed from heterologous subunit polypeptides. |
