| Abstract: | Phagocytosis is an important non-specific defense mechanism. Uterine phagocytosis is reviewed emphasizing factors which may alter the uterine phagocytic responses including the estrous cycle, pregnancy and the puerperium, and the presence of an intrauterine device. Implications of phagocytosis in therapy of and recovery from intrauterine infections are considered. |
