Abstract: | Polyene complexes with Mg(II), Ca(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) have been prepared and evaluated for biological activity in a flow microcalorimetric study. The bioactivities are all lower per g of complex than is the bioactivity of the patent polyene, nystatin. However extrapolation of the linear bioassay data suggests that because of enhanced solubilities the metal ion complexes may be able to yield higher overall bioactivity than can nystatin alone. |
