| Abstract: | A new polyketide metabolite, nodulisporin A was isolated from the fungicolous Nodulisporium sp. SH-1. The structure of compound 1 was elucidated by analyses of NMR spectroscopic and mass spectrometry data in combination with chemical means. Compound 1 is an equilibrium mixture of a linear form and two hemiacetal forms at the C-8 carbon. Compound 1 was evaluated for cytotoxic and antimicrobial activities. The metabolite was weakly active against microorganisms and showed weak cytotoxicity against HL60 cells. |
