| Abstract: | When phosphorylated by mTORC1/S6K, the insulin receptor substrate (IRS-1) is targeted for ubiquitination and proteasomal degradation. In a recent issue of Molecular Cell, Xu et al. reveal that the E3 ubiquitin-ligase CUL7/Fbw8 targets IRS-1 for degradation, thereby implicating this enzyme in the regulation of insulin signaling. |
