Effect of drought on three species of Rhizobium

Summary Three samples of soil were air dried and the reduction in population ofRhizobium meliloti, Rhizobium trifolii and a rhizobium of the ‘Lotus’ group was estimated by use of a plant-infection technique. The cells ofRhizobium trifolii proved to be more tolerant of the severe drought than did the cells of the other two species.
