Abstract: | Fifty percent of the ascorbic acid content of sliced rat lung was removed in 2 min by washing with Krebs-phosphate solution. Although no ascorbic acid was washed from an intact lung by perfusion of the pulmonary circulation, 30% of it was removed by washing out the air spaces. It is concluded that 50% of the ascorbic acid present in rat lung is present in the fluid lining of the air spaces. |
