Abstract: | Ancestral area methodology, applied to finding the centre of origin, conflicts with most cladistic biogeographic methods since it uses, not reduces, paralogy. A new term, area cladistics, is herein proposed as an efficient paralogy-free (or reduced) method under the three-item philosophy that currently exists with other methods under the broad term cladistic biogeography. |
